The community of Banff Trail is located in the northwest
sector of Calgary. Annexed to the City in 1910, Banff Trail is primarily
developed as a low density residential community. Banff Trail is within close
proximity to the Downtown, L.R.T. and the city's major institutions and
recreational facilities such as the University of Calgary, S.A.I.T., Alberta
College of Art, Jubilee Auditorium, McMahon Stadium and Confederation Park. The
1989 Banff Trail/Motel Village A.R.P. encourages preservation of the existing
character and quality of the area while supporting compatible infill development
to ensure the continued rejuvenation of the neighborhood. Motel Village, located
to the southwest of the community, is the major commercial node in the area.
Compatible uses that would complement the existing tourist-oriented activities
in Motel Village are encouraged.
