Varsity covers 676 gross hectares (1671 gross acres) making
it the largest community in Calgary. This extensive suburb is located in the
northwest sector of the city, south of Crowchild Trail and east of Sarcee Trail.
The collegiate name of this community is a result of its location adjacent to
the University of Calgary. In addition, the triangular-shaped portion east of 37
Street N.W. is designated as a university research area. There is an abundance
of local open space within Varsity. There is also easy access to the pathway
system which can take one north to Nose Hill or south to the Bow
River.
